Wand: 9 ½ inches, Holly, Unicorn hair
House in School:Ravenclaw
Bloodline: Half-blood, Mum's a witch, Dad's a muggle

Political View:
As a lycanthrope Mandy is not happy with the Ministry’s current blanket strictures and growing restrictions on werewolves. She feels that the ministry’s blind prejudice only adds fuel to the public distrust of lycans. In her heart she sides with the Order and the side of light, but her mind cannot get past the feeling that the Order is only a vigilante group with no legal legitimacy or public mandate for their power. She has yet to publicly take a stand with either group the ministry, or the order and at present is more worried about lycanthrope equality and seeing to swaying public opinion and policy to allow her and the pack some semblance of a real life.

Basic Physical Description:
Mandy is usually dressed very casually in jeans and a top, or very modest skirts or robes. Though often times her clothes look somewhat older or shabby.
Defining Marks:
Her midriff from hip to upper rib is heavily scarred with claw and teeth marks from being bitten on her right side. The scars cover almost the entire half of her abdomen from spine around to her belly button.
Personality

Growing up and at school Mandy was bubbly, upbeat, and always up for a laugh. She was very happy-go-lucky, well-liked and comfortable in social situations, far more of an extrovert than she is now, never afraid of putting someone in their place or speaking her mind. She was a typical Ravenclaw from a very young age; always testing things out to see how they worked, reading and learning anything she could, and even at a young age had a political mindset. She was always reading the Prophet or any other political propaganda she could get her hands on, and up until the time she was bitten had taken an internship with the Department of International Magical Cooperation. Since being bitten Mandy has become withdrawn and far more introverted. She is much more comfortable with her nose in a book, curled up in the old arm chair that occupies her room in Spinner’s End, and quite alone. She follows the ministry’s agenda rather sharply and still hopes to someday get back into politics; though she knows the chances are slim to none.

The pack is Mandy’s only real, viable family at this point, though she is still adapting to being with them. Her reserved nature has made her into the loner of the pack up till this point. Though more and more she comes to realize how much she needs them, and begins to attempt to cross the bridge beyond pack mates to friends. It is a slow journey, however, as Mandy is still leery of putting herself on the line to be hurt again. It has taken her a long time to heal after what she sees as her family’s betrayal, and the process is still unfolding before her. She hopes to one day understand their decision and think on them with love and warm memories, but now she only feels bitter and angry towards her biological family. Though the pack’s circumstances are different she finds trouble trusting what she can only refer to as her family.

Mandy is strong of mind, and stands firmly to her ideals and beliefs, though she doesn’t speak up or out as often as she once did, when given reason to she’s quite often hard to back down or pacify. Her heart is kind and she genuinely cares for others, but isn’t selfless or as accommodating as Zak; when Mandy knows she is right or has enough personal interested invested in the issue she can be more than a little stubborn.

She has never aspired to lead, even as a young girl her goal was to drive and draw up policy and agenda, never to be the politician. Mandy natural follows a strong lead, or example set before her. She can be strong-willed and isn’t easily persuaded or dissuaded, she has a strong set of values and beliefs, but is naturally a follower to someone who exhibits and shares the values she admires.

She is a bit of a recluse and has preferred to stay out of the public eye. In the face of such harsh discrimination and mother’s who herd their children away from the known lycan she finds no joy in social interaction outside of the pack in which she is finally finding comfort, Though more and more she finds herself allowing the pack to pull her out into society.

Once an optimist since the events of December 99 Mandy has become more pessimistic about life and is a bit more snarky than bubbly. She smiles less than she once did and laughs little, but is slowly coming around to finding a medium between the person she was, and the lycanthrope she is.
Psychology

Extrovert/Introvert: Formerly slightly more of an extrovert, but has grown quite introverted since being bitten. At times with the pack glimpses of her former self can be seen when she opens up and allows her guard to drop.

Boggart Would Be:
Mandy’s boggart is herself in lycanthrope form. Being so young a werewolf she has not yet mastered her inner wolf and fears the time she is unable to regain control or the pain it brings to her body during the change.
Patronus Would Be:
Mandy’s patronus is a Vixen, a female fox. It is a highly intelligent and independent animal, but is vicious when threatened or riled and highly protective of its family and young.
Sexuality

Mandy is in her own mind straight though she has never really explored her sexuality. She had a few short relationships and snogging sessions while in school, but never had a chance to explore further. Even after the complications of being a lycanthrope, and her own issues with trust and relationships, there is still a huge stumbling block to intimacy in her scarred stomach.
Lifestyle

Occupation: None at the moment unless you count endless hours of research and reading for no pay.
Residence: Spinner’s End
Financial Status: She gets by, largely through the help of the pack, she’s not sure how she manages, but she does.
Family

Parents: Galen and Abigayle Brocklehurst
Siblings: Madison “Maddy” Brocklehurst (27) Michael Brocklehurst (16) Morgan Brocklehurst (11)

With the exception of Madison, Mandy no longer speaks to her family, nor has she heard anything from them since being bitten before Christmas of 99. Her mother and father deemed her a danger to her two younger brothers and neglected to return to the hospital in the days following her attack.

Her older sister Madison writes to her often and has visited with her once since then. Their relationship is strained at best as Mandy remains withdrawn, but Madison seems committed to maintaining close ties and Mandy has slowly begun to warm to her. Even as committed to her as Madison has remained Mandy still fears that Madison will too abandon her, and wonders why she waited nearly five months after her attack to make contact. She can’t help but generalize. Grouping Madison in with her parents; the source of as much pain and hurt as any a full moon has brought on.

Part of her resistance to truly forming close, personal bonds is the fear they too will leave her, abandon her much as her family did after the attack. Nothing is so important to her as her family/loved ones and she is eternally loyal. Somewhere she understands her parents decision, but she can never accept or forget it, even if someday she learns to forgive it.
History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time

The second daughter born to Galen and Abigayle Brocklehurst was like a tiny ray of sunshine with platinum blonde locks and a permanent smile. She was terminally happy and inquisitive, her mind and hands always into something, she had a need to know about any and everything. She was encouraged to read, learn and explore which she did so with gusto and pestered her parents with questions about any and everything under the sun.

She grew up happy and loved with an infectious laugh and smile and was rightfully sorted into Ravenclaw as a first year. She had a love for politics and always had her nose into the ministry business. She was popular among members of her house and had a love for her classes. She pulled average grades in charms and transfigurations, and did well in potions, history of magic, and muggle studies. She knew from a young age that she wanted to join the ministry and her classes were geared for that career. While she had to admit Professor Binns’ monotone was infinitely dull and boring she poured herself over the notes she took in his class. She found ministry policy fascinating and studied goblin and troll uprisings with a true interest.

She isn’t a particularly weak witch she simply lacks the desire to apply herself to practical wand waving. She is much more interested in academia, diplomacy and literature than performing spells. She is proficient with most simple everyday spells or at least enough to get by with.

Mandy graduated from Hogwarts in May of 1998 and immediately began applying for internships and entry level positions with the Ministry. She even had the idea of going into law as a barrister for a short time. The internship with the Department of Magical Cooperation was not her first choice in the list of positions she had applied for, but it was a start nonetheless and she threw herself into the position. Eager to prove she the mind and the ability she had begun to garner some respect and turned a few heads over the course of the year she worked in the ministry. She had taken the job around October ’98 and worked for more than a year hoping for a leg up or promotion after her calendar year ended. Rumours had begun to circulate that there may be positions opening up, but Mandy would never know what might have happened had she been able to apply.

She was bitten just before the hols in December of ’99 by an unknown werewolf. The wolf attacked from behind, having been hiding in the woods and waiting until she returned for the house, arms full of wood for the fire. She was stunned as the lycan tackled and mauled her, attacking her mid-section. Once she had the good sense to scream her mother and father emerged and her mother was able to levitate a mixture of aconite powder and silver over to the attacking werewolf. With werewolf attacks happening more and more frequently the mixture was kept by the door for just such an emergency. Though Abigayle had hardly ever thought it would actually be needed. The werewolf slunk away in pain, but the damage was done. The mixture did not miss Mandy though, burning her skin and increasing the severity of her scarring. The infection not having fully taken hold she was only left with physical scarring and no lasting effects. They took her to St. Mungo’s where she would spend weeks recovering, but her parents only spent days. Ensuring their child would live, and after arranging to pay for her care they left, and Mandy was alone.

Eventually she would be found by Remus and June who would offer her a place in the pack. Her first inclination had been to decline, she wanted no part of any other sort of family, her usually sharp mind dulled by pain and hurt. But they hadn’t insisted upon an answer that day, and promised to return. She’d known Remus as a Professor, had trusted him then with her learning, and knew she was now completely alone in the world. She also knew what was being offered was more than just a home, and that she couldn’t make it on her own, so when the duo returned she accepted and left St. Mungo’s with the two known lycans.

She’s slowly come around to trusting the pack, establishing close ties with the others, something she resisted doing for much of her first year as a lycanthrope. Though now as the one year anniversary of being bitten she has become somewhat more withdrawn. As a younger girl Mandy was bubbly, always laughing, she is now much more dry, intellectual. She clings to facts, science, knowledge more than humor, faith, and hope. Knowledge has never failed her, unlike her family, unlike love.

She spends most her days curled in an old armchair, ripped in many places and losing stuffing, but it’s home to her. Her nose in a book, and a pen in her hand, researching. Any history, strictures, precedents, laws anything that might help her and the pack regain their life.

Or something like it.

Though it may be that through research, and action she finds hope for a better future, and the only way to help the pack she has come to love.
